HoloDNS Service Manual
HoloNet is only responsible for submitting your application and configuring your domain name setup on this end. You are responsible for paying any separate registration fees to the appropriate domain Registrar and for maintaining valid and current administrative, billing, and contact information in your record with the Registrar. Our online forms can only be used to register top level domains (TLDs) such as ".com", ".net", ".org" and ".edu" through Network Solutions (NSI). See Other Registrars and TLDs more information on linking domains registered through other registrars or to register domains under other TLDs. In order to use HoloDNS service, you need a regular HoloNet account --> See: Joining If you plan to link a domain name to a HoloWWW site, create the website FIRST. There are basically two methods for adding HoloDNS service:
During the process via either method, you will have the option to link your domain name to a HoloWWW site. You will also be prompted to specify how you want mail for your domain to be configured. After you submit your request, your application or modification will be sent to NSI. It may take the NSI anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks to process your application. We will notify you by e-mail through your HoloNet account regarding the status of your domain name. The domain will not be useable until the request has been approved and the InterNIC rootservers have been updated.
If the domain name is not approved, you will receive a credit of your HoloDNS setup fee in your HoloNet account to be applied towards the application of another domain name. If your domain is already hosted by HoloNet and linked to your account, and you want to link it to a newly created website, send us an authenticated request. There will be a one-time $25.00 fee for this service. Please include your sitename and authorization for this charge in your request.
Unless you are linking it to a UUCP site, your domain name will automatically be linked for e-mail to the personal mailbox of the HoloNet account through which it is registered. In your application be sure to specify how you want to accept mail for the domain:
When a domain is linked to UUCP service the default configuration is for all mail for the domain to go into your UUCP site.
DNS configurations tailored to your specific needs are also possible. For example, if your Internet services are distributed among different providers, say, with mail service hosted at one company and webhosting at another, as the host of your domain, we can easily configure our system records to point to these other services, thus enabling you to present a cohesive Internet presence.
Our online forms can only be used to register top level domains (TLDs) such as " .com", ".net", ".org" and ".edu" through Network Solutions. You can use other registrars to register your domain or register domains under other TLDs (e.g., country-code TLDs). You will need to contact the alternate registrar directly. When you register the domain, specify the following nameserver (a.k.a. DNS server) information:
Primary nameserver : NS.HOLONET.NET 198.207.169.2
Secondary nameserver: NS2.HOLONET.NET 207.113.168.3
Tertiary nameserver: NS3.HOLONET.NET 198.207.169.1
